One egg might be enough, but if you want better weapons, extra lives or shields then it is necessary to buy them using cumulative eggs gathered during gameplay. Each weapon shoots faster than the last, with the pea shooter being the slowest and most expensive. The lasers are fast but expensive. The upgrades are slower than lasers but cheaper than peas, and all of them are more powerful than peas.
A player begins with an initial weapon (pea shooter), which has unlimited ammo. A player can shoot eggs to earn money to buy better weapons (lasers) or upgrades (shields). Each laser has a different rate of fire; the fastest firing laser is least powerful, while the slowest firing laser is most powerful. Similarly, each shield has a different rate of recharge; the fastest recharging shield is least protective, while the slowest recharging shield is most protective. The shield's recharge percentage increases after shooting a laser which matches its recharging rate. Shots can also be blocked by having the shield in the player's inventory. There are four different weapons which can be unlocked for use: Laser, Pea Shooter, Turbo Laser, and Shield. Eggs are also available to purchase in the shop using cumulative eggs gained from completing levels.
Chicken Invaders 6 is not based on any of the previous games, instead it bears some resemblance to "Space Invaders", with still very basic graphics but with an additional level of depth in game play.
The game was developed by Eko Software who later developed "Chicken Invaders 6" 2 and 3 (the most recent ones) under new names.
In the previous 5 games, there were five different weapons that the player could purchase. In Chicken Invaders 6, there are now six different weapons that can be purchased. They are as follows:Each weapon has a different attack rate and a slightly different color for each of them.
The chicken invaders have also been changed after a few level with 8 sections instead of the usual 7 sections in the previous games, making it a total of 20 sections in Chicken Invaders 6 rather than 15 sections in past games. The time limit is still 60 seconds but has been slightly increased from 56 seconds from previous games.
If the player loses all his/her lives, the game will continue where it left off. However, if the player has no lives left and still continues, he/she will lose his/her current accumulated money and any upgrades or weapons bought previously.
The player starts off with a default pea shooter, which can be powered up by collecting more eggs (in levels). With these upgrades the different weapons can be changed to better ones.
